The Story of Project E90

When I bought my 2010 BMW 328i, my goal was pretty simple: I wanted to build a car that I could be proud of.

Like a lot of enthusiasts, I spent hours researching parts, watching tutorials, and imagining what the finished build could eventually become. From the beginning, I wanted to do as much of the work myself as possible—not because it was the easiest way, but because I wanted to understand every repair, every modification, and every decision that went into building it.

As the project grew, I realized I was gaining a lot more than mechanical experience. Every challenge forced me to slow down, solve problems, and keep going when things didn't work the first time. Without expecting it, Project E90 also led me into photography, videography, web design, writing, budgeting, and documenting a long-term project from beginning to end. Looking back, it's funny how buying a car ended up teaching me so many things that have nothing to do with cars.

After losing my mom, I found myself searching for something positive to pour my time and energy into. As Project E90 continued to grow, it became exactly that. It gave me goals to work toward, something that challenged me, and a reason to keep moving forward. Looking back, I don't think I realized at the time how much I needed it.

That's why this project means so much to me.

Most project cars are remembered by a handful of photos after they're finished, but I think there's so much more value in everything that happens before that. I wanted a place where I could document the entire journey—the successes, the setbacks, the lessons, and everything in between. Years from now, I don't just want to remember what the finished car looked like; I want to remember everything it took to get there.
